About PewScore

The chess-inspired ELO rating system bringing objective, skill-based rankings to competitive shooting across 8 disciplines.

What is PewScore?

PewScore is the flagship ranking platform developed by PewScore LLC, a sports-technology company dedicated to bringing modern data science to the competitive shooting community.

Inspired by the ELO rating system used in chess, our proprietary algorithm provides an objective, skill-based ranking that evolves with every match you shoot. Unlike traditional classification systems that rely on arbitrary thresholds, PewScore uses your actual match performance against other rated shooters to calculate a dynamic rating that truly represents your skill level.

All performance data is independently collected and processed by a third-party data analytics provider to ensure objectivity, data integrity, and analytical rigor across all supported shooting disciplines.

How It Works

Every shooter starts with a base rating. As you compete in matches, your rating adjusts based on your performance relative to your opponents' ratings. Beat higher-rated shooters and gain more points. Lose to lower-rated shooters and lose more points. It's simple, fair, and transparent.

What Goes Into Your Rating

Head-to-Head

Head-to-Head, Not Just Your Score

We don't just look at your finish. Your rating reflects how you performed against every other shooter in your division at every match.

Strength of Opponents

Strength of Opponents Matters

Beating a top-rated Grand Master moves your rating more than beating a newcomer. The system knows who you're competing against.

Match Level Matters

Match Level Matters

Winning a National championship carries more weight than winning a local club match. Bigger stages, bigger impact.

Dominance Over Volume

Dominance Over Volume

You can't grind your way to the top by just showing up. A world champion with 20 dominant matches will outrank someone with 50 average finishes.

New Shooters

New Shooters Find Their Level Fast

Your rating adjusts quickly in your first matches to find your true skill level, then stabilizes as you build a competitive track record.

Fair Floors and Guardrails

Fair Floors & Guardrails

Built-in protections ensure no one gets stuck unfairly. The system has safeguards against outliers and data anomalies.

Our proprietary algorithm processes every stage of every match across 10,000+ competitions and 21,000+ rated shooters. The math is rigorous. The data is real. The rankings speak for themselves.

Our Mission

Founded by competitive shooters for competitive shooters, PewScore was born from a simple question: why doesn't our sport have a modern rating system like chess players have had for decades?

We believe every shooter deserves transparent, data-driven performance tracking. With AI-powered coaching, detailed analytics, and a growing community of competitive shooters, PewScore is building the future of competitive shooting performance.
